Cruise control works intermittently

I purchased my e85 in February, and ever since I've had issues with the cruise control. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it would work, I would stop at a stop light, then it wouldn't work. I've tried to keep track of what situations it works, what electronics are being used, etc. I've noticed it works most frequently on cold rainy days. I've also noticed that if I smack the bottom of the steering column, I can then set it. I must do this every time I set it. The resume function doesn't work. I've taken the column cover off to inspect for loose writing and could find none. Does anyone have any advice or ideas?

Possibly a dodgy stalk that's where I would start looking.
The 2003 cars came with the loom already in from the factory so unlikely to be a connection problem in the loom.
Try and find a friendly forum member local to you who has cc and see if they will swap out the stalk to try before you buy a new one 5min job.

Could be a faulty brake/clutch switch.
Need to look at mine as it cuts out every now and then.
