Cruise Control Stalk

Hello! I am looking for some advice, I need cruise control for a long trip I have coming up but not sure what the best legitimate place to buy one is and with quick delivery…any ideas?

Good morning and welcome.
Firstly, what year is your car as only the earlier ones are pre-wired.
So you may have to budget some time to wire it in.
I believe someone recently got one from a main dealer for a decent price.
Try calling Sopers of Lincoln, as they post out quickly.
Also worth a search through the forum to see how to fit it.

Hello! It’s a pre October 04 Z4 so I hope that means it has the wires already? Is it worth looking at breakers yards?
They are pretty highly prized items. You may find one..............
But yes, you should be able to plug and play.

Whereabouts are you located?
Sometimes helps as there may be a member nearby who can help out?

Dealership. Always worth asking them first to see what the top end price should be, sometimes you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Sopers of Lincoln do a forum discount. Use https://www.realoem.com/ to find part numbers and have a search on ebay; BMW Park Lane sell on there.

If you buy from Sopers ( or an main dealer) make sure you tell them you just want the stalk NOT the kit - or they include the price of a precut lower cowl in the price - at least they did with me. - So I bought from LLP ? in Lithuania.
The wiring on an 04 is straightforward its plug and play.
I had to fit a loom to my 07 but that is also not particularly arduous.

A member posted recently that that they got one from BMW for about £100, sorry I can’t recall who it was. You won’t get much cheaper second hand or ordering it from anywhere else, so just go with BMW even if costs you an extra £20. There is no wiring to consider for an 04 car, it is plug and play; you just need to cut out a piece from the cowl that fits under the steering wheel. If you don’t have time to do this, you can simply drive with the cowl removed.

Thankyou!!

Think that might have been me. I paid just under £100 from Sytners in Sheffield. That was collected, not posted. I was quoted £130 with a forum discount from another main dealer last year, so it’s certainly worth shopping around.
Mine was dead easy to fit. Used a dremel for the cowling. But you could easily use a junior hacksaw blade. I drilled the corners first for a cleaner cut. Would have been a 10 minute job if it hadn’t have been for that pesky faulty clutch switch.

I picked a new one up in France for €100 which was less than I found on eBay,I love this mod.

£99 from my local BMW dealer! Not bad at all, thanks for all the help
 A very pleasant surprise!
Dealers can also be helpful with finding more obscure parts and getting numbers.
