Yup, fitted mine and it works as above.

It's one of the better systems, no stupid need to turn it on, just push and go. Up or down to cancel (along with brake and/or clutch) and press to resume.
Some moan there is no dash indicator, though I find it obvious when the car is driving itself. The only time it would be useful (or a warning chime) is after it cancels itself following a manual throttle application.

Have cruise control in mine and thought this would come in handy.
However, in Holland no-one can maintain a constant speed for some reason. People overtake you, then just slow down again, requiring you to then overtake them in order to maintain your own constant speed. It's particularly prevalent on the 5 lane stretches of the A2 where everyone seems to gravitate towards the 2 'fastest' lanes, leaving the 3 'slow' lanes where I usually sit, to the fekin leapfroggers.
None of my Dutch friends can explain this phenomenon to me.

I've noticed that sort of behaviour plenty in the UK, but I put it down to others keeping the same throttle opening and not allowing for gradients - that's hardly going to explain why it happens in the Netherlands though! :roll:
I tend to only use cruise in average speed limits to curb my enthusiasm - it's hard to stick to 50 in my Z!
Nearly forgot about Marlon's question - oops! My E46 has all the buttons on the steering wheel, complete with + and - , but my E87 1 Series had the same stalk as my Z4, which I prefer. I'm guessing the stalk is the newer generation of BMW fitment.

Had a second hand stalk from eBay last week, was from America, only paid £30 all in including postage.....bargain!! Took about 10 minutes to fit and works like a dream, reach desired speed push lever forward and that's it. Can speed up or slow down by clicking forward or backwards. Button on end saves last speed so just press and it will go to that. Best £30 ever spent.....well apart from that lapdance the other week!!

I rang Peter Van Der Veer and left a message on answering machine - also sent him an email for a quote to fit.
Having driven to the lakes and back in a Mazda 3 with cruise and getting no aches whatsoever in my right leg I decided it has to be done
