Hi all, anyone had cruise control fitted recently on a 07 coupe onwards. I know it's not too expensive on the pre face lift cars but not sure how much it would cost on the newer cars.I'm presuming BMW would charge a small fortune. Any info or prices much appreciated.
Cheers

Just a week ago I paid £339.17 fitted by the stealer to 06 3.0 Coupe.

Cheers,I'm thinking of buying a coupe from a dealer might try and get it fitted as part of the deal. Anyone had it fitted by an indy ? or did you try that first Bandit ?

I've never really done any DIY on cars but I managed to fit it myself to an 07 coupe easily enough, so don't rule out that option. The kit is about £150.

There was some confusion as to where in the DME (engine electronics) it gets connected to but there is a thread on that now so it's pretty clear.

My car was in BMW Battersea for a couple of things and I asked them about retrofitting cruise control to my 56 plate 3.0. They wanted very nearly £800 to do it. The kit was about £180 and the rest was labour. Nobody there had done it before and they thought it would take three hours and it needed coding too.

Can't do it myself as I'm a bit of a numpty with a soldering iron :(

I'll do it for £500! Nah seriously, you don't need to use a soldering iron and as long as you can follow instructions then it's not that difficult...

i've found this

http://bmwministyle.co.uk/products/BMW-Z4-E85-Cruise-Control-Switch-Stalk.html

Is this the correct one for the Z4 3.0si on a 06 ? and if i click to "add wiring loom" it only comes to £81. Is this the full fitting kit i'd need inc full wiring?

looks like the right thing :D

you can also buy a kit which includes the wiring loom and the lower steering wheel cowel with the cut out pre-cut out.

many here have cut it out the standard cowel (it is well marked) so I'd buy the wiring and the switch separately

yeah i've noticed the markings to cut it out in the right place so i'm not too bothered about getting the cowling, I just want to make sure I have everything else i need if i bought that kit for £81 :)

Sorry for the slow reply. There are no real BMW indies around where I live so no price. I wanted the inspection/service from the stealer in case I have any engine issues as the car is relatively low mileage (20k) so got them to quote and fit for C.C. while it was in. The price did include the cowl. Certainly if you have the time and inclination I think it makes sense to do it yourself particularly as some site members have already done it so any issues you may have could quite easily resolved. And I was just being a bit lazy as I have done quite a bit recently including polybushing TCA's, CSL bushes and bush limiter kit to RTA's, strut brace, CDV delete etc.
