cruise control cut off

2003 2.5I roadster auto tranny Ok here's the deal. If I go around a fairly sharp curve with my cruise set at a pretty fast speed first the flat tire light comes on for a short time and the cruise cuts off. Is this some sort of safety thing to slow you down around sharp curves? thanks Bob

That's an odd one. what is fast and how sharp is sharp? Everyone has different measures.

I can only guess the ABS sensor is suggesting one wheel is travelling further and tripping the low tyre pressure indicator, but that normally calculates over several minutes. You may already have a slightly low or more worn tyre.

As for cruise cutting out it's certain to be linked to the safety system, so in the event of any of the sensors indicating instability it's sure to cut off. There would be no point in the electronics doing all the brake balancing if it left cruise on to keep the throttle open

Its hard to describe how sharp a curve is but the speed limit is 45mph and I had cruise set at 60. Tires are new and I checked air as soon as I got home and they were fine. Thanks for your input.

I would think the cruise cut off is a safety feature as CJ said, The tyre light is most likely the electronics having a funny minute, while switching of cruise and operating safety features, but that is only a guess.

Speed limit 45 and you were doing 60 and you're surprised the cruise shut off? :o

If that's the only time it trips off, then you've called up the safety features.
