Cross channel Ferry and 3000kms

There was a post on here very recently which I cannot now find asking about clearance for lowered cars when boarding cross channel ferry's. I came back to Europe late Wednesday evening with LD Lines from Portsmouth. Without request, a Caterham and myself were pulled out of the waiting line of cars and parked on one side while everyone else includding a 996 and a Scooby were loaded. We were finally loaded last on to the main car deck which is flat as the marshal deemed our vehicles to be at risk of grounding if we used the ramps to the upper/lower car decks. So despite hanging around while the boat was loaded we got to park in the bow with plenty of space around and were 2nd and 3rd off the boat the following morning at Le Havre. Many thanks to LD for their care and attention. On the way to the UK I used Transmanche(?) from Dieppe to Newhaven and they were also very careful checking the clearance as I loaded.
For me a great 10 days back in the UK. 3000kms, great drive, great weather, great car.
Also thanks to Steve in Birmingham for the grills and Playalistic for holding my knob till I collected. It was good to meet other forum members and put faces to names.

I did'nt put that well did I? :? I ordered one of jonny5's gearknobs but he has gone on holiday so Playalistic kept it for me until I could collect from Reading.
And yes, it was an excellent trip :driving:
