Cronking from dash area

I have a cronk (cross between a creak and a clonk) from top of dash area. Normally only hear it at low speed on poor susrfaces as body flexes. Cannot place the cause at all. Cannot feel it when laying palm of hand on dash area. Driving me nutty, any ideas?

Check your strut bracing under the bonnet where it connects to the bulkhead, wouldn't be the first time somebody reported this to be loose and making the noise you describe.

I also had this when I bought the car. drove me mad for a week, almost to the point that I was prepared to remove the dash.

as suggested, check the bolt under the bonnet, I turned my less than 1-2mm and it stopped immediately. That was 2.5 years ago and the noise has never returned - happy days !!!

Thanks wise guys. The two nuts nearest bulkhead were a bit loose. I tightened 'til they were just snug and took it for a run around the crappier streets with ridges, potholes etc.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, blessed peace!

Cheers

Now that that is solved what's the easy fix for my hardtop "cronking" on uneven surfaces. ?? It seems to be a problem with most of the new E89's.

Another easy one to answer, you need to sell it any buy a proper Z4, an E85

You misunderstood, if I wanted an old Z, I would have kept my Z3...... :poke: :poke: :fuelfire:

Or trade in your current model for the facelift when it comes out, that should have corrected some of your problems :)

Oh my, what have I started?

No worries mate, when the temperature equalizes the "cronking" stops.....and my car is "PERFECT".
Actually I was thinking of looking for an OLD Z4 to keep down south. a good disposable car for the times I'm in Az.

Hah, gotcha !! :poke:

Funny, the hard top on my E86 makes no such noise :poke:
