You're lucky! Trust me, if it were possible all of us Aussies would be importing cars for far cheaper than local prices!

Just to rub salt in it... here's the '06 coupe I looked at today. Just imported and very 'standard'. If you've seen what some of the Jap imports look like you'll understand why it can be hard to find some models (especially more 'sporty' ones) in original condition.
Not a fan of the wood-look dash, but that's pretty minor in the scheme of things...

Interesting, when the time comes for me to move back to Oz, ill be taking (hopefully) my little coupe back with me, (sydney based) besides being LHD, can you foresee any issues? (I've owned the car for the last 3 years). Mine is GCC spec, in a nutshell that means Eurospec, plus zero emissions gear and a much bigger (more cores) radiator.

the car in Oz would only be for personal use.

any info would be awesome

I think you'd run into trouble with it being LHD, unless you're prepared to pay for it to be converted to RHD. LHD is only permitted on cars over 30 years old in NSW:

Agreed. 50k is indeed the average price for a Z4M Coupe at the moment.

That's kind of what I was thinking - there's nothing there that's not relatively easily sorted if you don't like the fake wood dash, or panel and seat colour. I'd better stop now before I start doing man maths on how I could buy this 'M' :lol:

Not enough, would be my immediate answer :lol: , but no, I don't know. With them being so highly expensive when new I doubt many would have been purchased (not sure how you'd find out. Someone here seems to have an exact figure of UK models/colours etc, wonder if the same info's available for other markets?).
Now that time's moved on, and prices are going down, we're seeing a lot more Japanese import Z4's, including a few Z4M's coming into NZ. The one in the link above (owned by the Hobbit) is a Jap import, as is the only other one (almost) for sale on the same site.

Don't suppose you have a figure for any Z4MR's imported? Or does your answer above imply that no M roadsters were imported?

From my researching of RHD VIN numbers Australia, UK and Japan were the only countries I saw that had a National Version code. Apparently New Zealand does have a code of S823A though. In my incomplete list of RHD roadsters there are a bunch of cars without a National Version code but instead have code L858A (Engine Settings for Lower Quality Fuel). I believe BMW uses that for cars imported into India but I don't imagine New Zealand would class as having low quality fuel.

I tell you all this in case you manage to get hold of a list of RHD VIN numbers and try to find out

Ha, it might be hard to find 98RON fuel (plenty of 91 and 95), but our fuel doesn't qualify as Lower Quality - just Higher Priced

Lol, pretty sure there was 98 when i blasted around the south Island a few years back..

A lot of my mods are not just bolt on bolt off, so i have a lot of money (relative) invested in this car, so its not just as easy as pull all your mods off, buy another one in Sydney and bolt on. I might just take it back with me even if i can only use on the track. How hard would it be to import a LHD car? , probably easier to source a crashed zed, and swap steering rack and such.. I recon there probably both pre drilled..
