Creamed!!!!

So I posted this on an US site and no one knew,so...

Decided to drop the top after going grocery shopping and one of the bags had shifted and crushed a pint of heavy cream.
We lost about 1/3rd of it some in the bag but some on the boot carpets.
Cleaned up what we saw but the container was sitting on the raised (US) passenger side area and some leaked down under this panel.
Need to remove it and clean underneath

Anyone know how to remove this panel?

you have to remove the side trim the inside of the boot, the plastic cover that is over the rear hinge cover, the bit behind the lights, the plastic rivets and finally this pulls up. the roof and other modules are under there.

It will stink no matter what you do !
It happened to one of my cars years ago - we washed the boot area immediately after the milk spilled out yet the smell came back once in a while.

I see a lot of top down drives on the cards.

It's not as bad as what happened to an old pal, he bought some fresh fish, some of the juices leaked out on the way home - the only way to get away from the smell --- he sold the car!

To ensure you rid the car of any smell you should use bicarbonate of soda. Wipe up the mess make a solution of water and bicarbonate of soda to clean the area and dry and then if it's on fabric, sprinkle dry bicarbonate of soda liberally all over the area work it in a little and leave it to dry. Once dry Hoover it up and any of the particles that would cause a smell will be gone.

It's what my mum has used for years. Works a treat. I've recommended this to others who have had their other halfs decorate the inside of the car after a night out and it's worked. Even if after you've cleaned and dried it and you are getting smells you can still lightly wet the area and add the dry powder, rub in, leave to dry and Hoover.

I did something similar in a micra years ago. Ended up taking the back seats out along with all the rear carpets. Then hosed the lot down in the back garden. It took ages to dry it out, but it got rid of the smell. :wink:

Inherited one in the 1 series i'm currently selling & its annoying me that no matter what i try it still returns the day after :x

Assuming they're cloth seats, have you tried a steam cleaner? In my experience, they seem to remove water marks (and a lot of other stains) without much fuss - although you may have to go over the whole seat to avoid leaving a patch that stands out as it's cleaner than the rest of the cloth

I'd go with Perry on this one. Although cleaning the whole seat well I assume it's just the base? with the solution and then dry it out and Hoover may rid it of the mark. I would however try the steam cleaner first.

I know my mum cleans marks off the carpets using a solution of water and bicarbonate of soda and then hoovering. Works well
