Creaky car.....

As per the title, i've noticed lately that the top part of the plastic trim move the windscreen creaks and cracks whenever I go over a slight undulation / bump / rut - see the highlighted sections below :

Seems to be worse with the hood up and in place rather than down - and occurs over the entire length pretty much as random points.

Anything I should be worrying about or any apparent 'fix'?

Cheers!

Live with it I'm afraid. Temperature has a lot to do with this.
Mine does it a fair bit too!

So I used IPA to degrease the rubber and applied Gummy Pfledge but it's as creaky as ever.

The creaks along the roof line, combined with those from the doors are really driving me insane now.

Is this normal as I swear it never used to happen?

Anyone else car suffer from this?

Turn the radio up thats what I do

Does yours suffer the same then?

I've degreased all rubber seals on all doors, roof itself and where the roof meets the chassis - applied vaseline - no better.

Fedup :x

After a drive today i've discovered two things :

- It happens just as much with the roof down
- It seems to be across the whole plastic cross member of the car
- It's not temperature related as it's 16 c out today and just as bad as ever

It even happens when changing gear / cornering / braking! Never happened when I first got it.

Any thoughts guys as it sounds like a 30 year old plastic shed at the minute :(

It's a 2007 with only 26000 on the clock :|

Can that part of the trim be removed does anyone know?

Does yours suffer from it Mr Bond?

Apply GT-85 Teflon spray liberally around all joins/seams/mating surfaces and wipe off the excess with a cloth. It always works for me.

I've followed your advice and applied GT-85 to the affected contact points - and it's seemingly worked! Get the odd creak now and again when going over large holes / dips but that's to be expected.

I'll see if it lasts! :D

Excellent result !

Well i'm afraid to say while this worked it only seemingly worked for 24 hours or so as most of the creaks have come back :(

you could try removing the plastic trim parts and put some felt underneath then re fix
+1. Worked for me, no creaks now.
I too fixed mine with felt tape several years ago, no creaks since then.
