Creaking coupe boot lid

Hi All,

Returning to the fold after a few years away, having just bought a nice 3.0 si coupe.
Being the OCD type, I'm trying to track down a few rattles and creaks, mainly from the rear of the car.

I think the plastic trim around the rear window glass rattles so I've got some felt tape on the way, but I've also noticed that there is a creaking noise when I push down on the boot lid (when closed). I can't identify quite where it's coming from.
Has anyone else noticed this or have any suggestions what component could be making the noise?

Cheers, Matt

I've got a creaking from around the top of the boot lid behind the passenger left shoulder. It's the bane of my life on slow speed roads. I've tried gt85 spray everywhere. Can not solve it! It's definitely a creaking like rubber on rubber.

Try Gummi Pfedge.

Regular applications help prevent the rubber seals from drying out and keep them supple and pliant.

Very rarely can you buy it in shops, so Amazon or this place usually offer it at competitive prices

Thanks,
I've tried some old rubber seal conditioner type stuff I had in the garage on the boot seal, but it didn't seem to make any differece to the creaking.
I'll give that Gummi Pfedge stuff a go though, I can't think where else the noise would be coming from.

Cheers, Matt

have you tried lubing the parcel shelf corners and where it tolls into at each side, did mine and it stopped allot of the sqeeks

only have one sqeek to find that only seems to happen on big bumps

Do you mean the actual roller mechanism?
Not tried that yet, but sounds worth a go. The creaks and rattles certainly seem to be temperature dependant so must be a something plastic somewhere.

Matt

Yup, pull the roller so its out fully, then spray lube into the sides as it rolls back

I only had one more squeek and hoping I've found it, where the metal bar goes through the blind, it creaked when you twisted it so just taken bar out and lubed that.

Also part 7, I have the 4 on top panel but theirs holes for 2 on either side but mine doesn't have any on either side so off to get some

well last week i started with spraying the ends of the rollers (where the spring mechanism would be) with 3m silicon spray. This cut allot of the noise down. Also spray the ends where the rubbers go into the holes

Then on sat I took off the handle on the parcel shelf, pulled the metal bar out and sprayed down the hole. and put that all back together

I also took off the rear window surrounds and sprays all the plastic clips and anywhere where there would be plastic against anything

Last bit was clean all the rubber seals and rub some silicon spray onto it. did this on everything not just the boot

Nah i didnt take the roller out, you know the 4 plastic window surrounds took them out.

the roller just putt out out as far as it goes then spray in the corners and let it roll in

ye should be fine, I just used the 3m stuff as its what we have at work and comes with a nozzle to get into small places. Also it doesn't damage rubber
