Creak / knock from inside dash

BMW dealer just called.
Good news and bad.

Good news they found the rattle. After taking the speedo out, refitting and still a noise...they whipped it out again to notice the previous owner has fitted a Horizon tracker. Well the tracker is somewhere in the car but they found the battery back up and it was this that was vibrating against the speedo. OK, something I would never of found.

Bad news, as it's the tracker and not something standard...won't be covered by warranty!
I feel a painful bill coming on. :poke:

I wouldn't accept this at all. They sold you an AUC that is supposed to be (I have this from a source inside the business) to all intents and purposes 'as new'. If they missed the tracker in their inspections of the car, they should be paying for any problems caused by it.

I gave my struts a good shake but no obvious movement.

I did that with mine and discounted them. However they were tight enough not to move but loose enough to creak. It will be them.

I had the radio out and everything. Dealer knew what it was instantly and tweaked it whilst it was in for something else. Just tighten them right up and see if it goes.
