Crazy thunderstorm in London for July?

Tiniest bit of rain and some thunder first thing this morning, cloudy but dry here now, very humid and muggy though so it's like the calm before the storm.
 
Little rain during the night, no thunder hear near Gatwick.

Nice and sunny today, hardly any clouds and a little cooler at 23c.
 
Sun has just started to come out here - no rest from the humidity for us then :lol:

I drove from derby to london this morning, a38, m6 toll m42, m40.

The roads near bham were terrible... M6 toll was washed out.

Nice and sunny as i got to london, but lightning and thunder started here again now (in surry)

Def. a bit wet here. By the time I got up it had subsided but I have a line of silt on my front door - too close for comfort. Drive is now dry.

Won't claim on insurance as it'll just expose me to flood risk premiums for the next 100 years :(

Was mental here last night. got woken up at 3:45am.

Had to be up at 5:30am and the thunder at that time was rather loud.
 
I was up working at home until 2:30am and went out for a few extended cigarette breaks under my porch to watch the lightning.
It was very speculator to watch, but have to say its not a patch on the storms you get in SriLanka (and the tropics) with hail the size of pingpong balls. Ill try and find a video from our honeymoon to upload

Good man - that should put our minds off the weather ;)


Glad I decided to bring the car to work today rather than the bike - the roads were like rivers on the way in - stopped raining in Leeds before lunchtime tho.
 
All very local by the sound of it as the garden furniture was barely wet here.

CJ - that is some water you got there though ! Was it like that in the entire close?
 
Seems it came off the village hill like a tsunami and chose my end of the close to pile up against the house. My garage was its drain. Just about cleared up and everything hosed down. Pretty lucky as there are tide marks on the Zeds discs...
 
Had this last Thursday over in Ontario, proper thunderstorms here...

Lost all power for 36 hours, trees down, flooding etc.
 
Nothing here. I'm waiting on a hill top with a 6 metre copper pipe. I heard if I get struck by lightning you'll win the lottery twice :thumbsup:
