Crazy money

If someone with a bit of cash decides they want a particular car with low miles then going for something like that is not out of the realms of possibility.

I have about £30 - £35K to spend on a car and I am not bothered if is is a brand new E89 35i or a 7 year old M Coupe, needs to be something special if it is an older car though.

Seen a lot of dealers picking up cars that are up for private sale and then chucking 20 - 30% on the price. Some on AT are the same car in two separate adverts, £4K apart.

Crazy money indeed!
Let's hope it sells close to the asking price though, good news for all of us owners,as this kind of artificial increasing of prices should raise the average selling prices of all our cars.
Anyone know what the red z4mc they had for this price sold for?or if it stayed on these shores?

Not really noticeably quicker unless you remap it. Virtually identical 0-100 and 0-130mph and fastest in-gear times very similar too with the caveat that the TT has greater flexibility because of the additional torque.

Z4MC are not worth 30k , there a great 15k car almost untouchable in the market place but at 30k there are better cars around for not much more

Imagine the deperication curve per mile on a car like that ... put 20k on the clock cost you 10k! :o

Isn't that the same with any older, low mileage car? You are taking away the reason it is desirable.

Exactly why would anyone bother to spend that much on a used car with 10k already ... makes no sense to me .. when you could get a really nice one for 18isk with 30k on the clock. 12k a premium for so little benefit

My point really is Z4MC are not worth 30k regardless of milage IMO

I suppose it depends on the make, model, rarity etc as to what value is worth. I would say any car that has hardly been used and kept in good pristine condition is always going to draw attention from people who think it will appreciate.

Anyone who picks up a pristine, garage queen and uses it as a daily and clocks up the miles and reduces the condition must be an idiot or very rich.

I guess it's the waiting game for hexagon cars, someone will come along with enough dosh, not enough time or patience to do research and bag what is probably still a bargain, however, it's not had much running with only 11k on the clock.

Like how they're just lifted some amateurs review off the web...

Hexagon, I would imagine, are banking on finding a speculator. Somebody who loves the Z4MC and believes that it will at some point become a modern classic.

With 11k, at £30k it will go to a collector, see very little road action and will probably not rise above 15k mileage in the next 20 years.

Didn't Hexagon have an Imola Z4MC a few months back listed at £40k?

Steven's right. Did you see that Sunbeam Lotus on PH the other day with just 190km on the clock? It hadn't even been registered so if you buy it at the auction you'll be the first owner.

Wow, that's fantastic, does it also mean that it will be laden with a brand new registration too, a 2014 Lotus Sunbeam :D

When you see what new cars depreciate at then even the 12k for 20k miles sounds bearable for the right buyer. Personally I would be thinking about Gen 1 997 C2S for that kind of money and probably on around 20 000 miles. Probably another future classic.

And put another lump of cash aside for an engine rebuilt!

Hexagon have always done well with these low mileage cars. I was looking at a reasonably priced M3 a while back there and there was a chap doing a deal on a £110k low mileage Z8 sitting next to me. I was also talking to a sales chap at Sytner earlier this week and he said they'd just sold a 1k mile 318 compact to a collector (at quite big money too)....apparently there are actually quite a few who'll buy the best low mileage just to keep in their collection.
