Subject says it all. Had it 2 months and already my new pride and joy is looking slightly...well shorter:(

I was hit in the back while waiting in traffic on the twin bridges roundabout in Bracknell. Everyone is ok which is the most important thing, but now I need to think about ensuring I don't get stitched up by either her insurance or my insurance. I have called Barons BMW as they requested when I bought the car to make sure it's only genuine BMW bits that are used to fix it, and they have said that they will manage it for me, but has anyone else been in this situation? what can I expect from the insurance based on it's 100% her fault? (she admitted this on the roadside, although not officially yet as far as I know).

Any advice / suggestions welcomed.

Sorry to hear that, but be prepared that your insurance premium will rise as well at renewal time. Unfair but true.

I assume you have filled in the paperwork on the spot? I always have the European accident form in the car so I can get the situation drawn and signed by both parties.

I think you will be fine, as you were hit in the back. Most BMW bodyshops will handle insurance claim with insurers. You have nothing to worry about. Did you take any pictures with your mobile phone at scene?

bundy01, sorry to hear that mate. That roundabout is a PITA - people always in the wrong lane. Wouldn't worry about fault, not heard of a case where someone's been hit from behind and it's not been the other party's fault. Hope it gets sorted in short order. Only thing I would say is keep talking to the insurance company for regular updates, some can slack off otherwise. Have they offered you something interesting as a loaner?

pvr, accident forms in the car, your efficiently with these things constantly amazes me. Of course now you've said it, it makes perfect sense to do so. Up until camera phones I use to keep one in my car to document the scene.

thanks all!

I did get some photo's in case she argues the case, will let you know, hopefully it should be fairly straightforward! Sucks about the insurance, it's another 10 months till my policy expires so thats something to look forward to

I actually haven't filled in any paperwork at all, I just called it in straight away (actually still on the roadside). Good idea though about keeping the claim forms in the car, will def look into that one!

Going through the same pain. I let the insurance co handle it. It's in, being repaired, I am being kept updated, repairs g'teed 5yrs. Have a brand new Z4 35m to tool around in until mine comes home to Daddy.

I feel for you, but as long as no injuries, that's the important thing.

thats bad news. i had a similar situation were some tool reversed into my door having owned the car a week.

He admitted liability immediately and his insurers called and wanted me to take the car to 'john smiths Auto's' (something like that) in some back alley in manchester, i said no chance and stated i wanted an approved BMW repair job, they had no issues with that and i had it done at Williams BMW in manchester.

if i hadnt asked though, god knows what repair job id have got.

I had a minor bump some time age when driving my wife's quattro when an old dothering fool in a nissan almera rammed me.
Audi assist did it all ie. arranged car hire, repair, the third parties insurers etc. Our inurance company were not involved. However come to renewal and a long after the whole issue was done and dusted, at the " Any accidents in the last year" question and even though there was no claim, blame or cost to her insurance - up it went by a few quid!

Remember this when claiming for any uninsured loss!

as others have said, main thing is nobody is hurt, metal can be replaced, still sorry for you though

Best thing that could have happened is that she hit you from behind that way regardless she is to blame. Did you mention you had some whiplash and keep getting flashbacks.... :D

Sorry to here this mate but glad all OK and as said above your not at fault in any way so should go through OK and come insurance time if they do crank it up to much just shop around she hit you so your not the insurance risk.
