What a s**t run of luck lately. Any advice replied overnight would be a great help.

just now i locked up, skidded and ended up sideways hitting a signpost and in a ditch at a 45 degree angle. so lucky it didnt roll!

got towed out. front quarter damage. side skirt damage. light but will need replacing.

limped home as coolant is leaking fast! any ideas on costs etc for broken coolant thingymajig. and a clutch as mine smells fucked from getting it out. bad bad bad times :(

Which side front quarter damage. And what colour is you Z
Have you damaged headlight?
Does it look like cosmetic damage or do you think there's structural damage.
Post a picture as this will help us understand the damage and costs.

Coolant leak could be just a hose split or header tank split or rad gone, hoses are normally between £15 - £40, header tank £40 - £75, rad £100 for a copy but BMW want silly money for an OEM one.

Wing look on eBay but won't be a lot, side skirts is standard and not aero ones will be cheap, I have a silver set if you need them.

Probably get it all fixed if you do the work yourself and are luck if panels are on eBay in same colour for under £300 -400 but if structural damage then go through your insurance.

Pics will be the key to understanding, did you take any of how it ended up as this can often help to understand where the damage may be. Underside damage is often over looked but it can cause major structural changes.

Bad news at least you are OK

Front quarter, bumper, wing, light (and the bits and pieces) side skirt and coolant leaking is unfortunately going to add up. Whatever the other damage If it's been in a ditch sideways it needs a good examination of the underside and suspension, with a four-wheel alignment. Also look at the wheels for side-on impact not only for condition of the wheel, but it also flags up if a suspension set-up needs a careful check.

If you are thinking of fixing it 'off insurance' there seems to be a lot more salvaged parts around now.

ouch, as well as the checks above it might be worth get the abs looked at as well as you shouldn't have locked up... hope its just cosmetic

if its leaking coolant have a good poke about, split hose or damaged rad is my thought. if it is the rad isnt there an oil cooler rad or air con one down there too? might be worth looking at that.

Slightly useless post last night. i was a little startled. damage isnt too bad. coolant was on mimimum this morning so topped it up and drove from my girlfriends to home. clutch still STINKS of burning even now 12 hours later. i assume that means its

Thats not too bad all, cosmetically.

May have damaged your suspension, how fast were you going?

Might be worth going through the insurance as a new side quarter + respray will be a couple of hundred and then the other unknown non cosmetic issues.

I'd go with insurance by the sounds of it, but snap someone's hand off if you can get that done for £200! Preparation materials, paint and VAT prices add up these days and as aquazi says it sounds like there will be other issues. Hand it over, sit back and you won't have to look at it again until it's all shiny and fixed. It's what you pay insurance for.

Not good.

Well the cosmetic damage looks light. I'd want it up in the air to see what you took out underneath and that depends ont he ground you slid over. Might be just a hose knocked off or rad damage, undertray, etc.
Suspension may have taken a beating so need checking and propoer alignment, but appears to be drivable so hopefully minor.

Clutch is odd as I see no reasong for it smelling, but depends on what you did to try to get out before a tow. Perhaps got mud, sludge, water in it??

BTW - if you damaged a street sign you'll be responsible.

Sorry to hear this-my clutch smelled for a couple of days after I washed it and left It in the garage, and the brakes seized to the discs, had to put in first then reverse etc until it freed itself,I probably took a couple of thousand miles off the clutch

If u still need a Maldives blue skirt, will check with my mate to see if he's fitted my old ones on his race car yet...

Let me know

If you were riding your clutch with big revs to get out of the ditch you will have burnt a bit of lining off. It feckin stinks worse than dog arse when this happens and the reak hangs around for days. Doesn't mean it's fooked though. If it isn't slipping or juddering just forget it the niff will go in a few days.
