Crankcase ventilation replacement.

Pretty sure I've asked a similar question before, but I didn't understand what parts I needed.

My car smokes a fair bit (white smoke, burning oil) and I usually have to top my oil level up fairly often. It's calmed down a bit now that I've switched to Petronas, instead of the usual Castrol Edge/Mobil.

I have read a lot about the CCV system basically gets blocked and so the oil ends up coming out of the exhaust, rather than recycling back into the engine (I think that's how it works anyway).

My Z4 has 124k on it, so one can assume the ccv has seen better days. Question is, are the eBay kits any good? I don't want to fit the lot and then something fail a while down the line.

I was looking at either Meyle, Febi or the D2P kits, which give between 12-24 month warranties.

Also, do I need anything else other than the 5 items these kits come with? Another website mentioned buying a new dipstick tube?

Thanks, Ben.

I fitted this CCV kit to my Zed back in April last year.

Not the cheapest available but it is a quality German made Febi Bilstein set with a 2 year warranty and has all the parts you will need to do the CCV. Also replaced the inlet manifold gasket, throttle body gasket and dipstick tube O-ring whilst I was doing.

Can't help I'm afraid, however my car also plays a lot better after switching to Petronas!

Cheers. I had looked at that kit. It seems well priced and not too much more than the no-name brand kits for sale.

Did you get the gaskets and o rings from the dealers? Or can these be sourced online/aftermarket also?

Bought everything on Ebay, either Febi Bilstein or Elring. I get the part numbers off REALOEM and put them in the Ebay search box.
