Crankcase ventilation change - hose not fitting

I am just in the middle of replacing my Crankcase Ventilation and have stripped all the old parts out. Have managed to fit the difficult L shaped short pipe between the CCV and the intake manifold which was very fiddly and took some time.

However, trying to fit the crankcase breather hose to CCV and I can't fit it - it looks too long. CAN ANYONE HELP?

I have checked the hose against the old one (which is cracked) and it is the same size. Have I fitted something wrong or is there a knack to fitting these?

Maybe putting the awkward hose in some very hot water will make it more flexible? They sometimes take a bit of wriggling before the fitting "clips" into place.
A small amount of Vaseline on the O rings can help as well, good luck with it.

Thanks for the reply. It seems like the hose is about 10mm too long and does not even come close to the spout. The hose is straight and not flexible.
