hi all,
Over the last 2 weeks or so my oil light has been coming on intermittently, yet when I do an oil level check the sensor tells me the oil level is fine, now about 3 months ago, with no warning, I get a yellow EML light on, nothing wrong with performance, but boy did I go all cold up my spine.! I work in the trade, and one of my boys connected up and read a non specific fault code, that just said refer to dealer, cleared it off, and it has been fine until the oil light a couple of weeks ago, as I said intermittently, 2 days ago the EML light came on again, our boys checked it again, topped me up with oil, and told me the computer read, crankshaft position sensor issue, been quoted £59.07 + VAT, for part, nothing about fitting though, as i'll probably get our boys here to fit it, point one. My workshop foreman has been told there are two of these on this car, yet he has had a similar issue on another car, and found there to be only one, whats the right answer..? my car is an 06/56 facelift, new engine 3.0 si manual. secondly, oil usage, anyone else have issues of oil loss on this car, and do I have to really replace this sensor.. what does it do, how does it affect performance... etc etc... and are/could the two things be linked..?
thanks
