Mike and I set off to check the road conditions of the route being used on Sunday. The recent rain had helped to wash the surface clean and we were pleased to find the snow on top of the fells was not an issue. Roads were damp so the usual caution had to be taken but as of today the run is on. . . .

We decided to call at Hartside café as we were headed to Alston - when we got there it was closed so we headed back to our Sunday route and had our coffee at the Wentworth, Hexham.

I'm going to make a final check of the route on Friday.
