N Newbers Active member St Albans (one days march from London) May 7, 2011 #3 Try tapping it, often you can hear a crack (slight rattle or just dull sound). If not cracked it will tend to ring. If you really want to know you can get penetrating fluid that shows up under UV light. Search for non destructive testing of metals. Was this inlet or exhaust? (I think the inlet is plastic - on the N52 at least).
