My car was reversed into which cracked the bit between the grills so started a claim with my insurers giving the other parties details, car was picked up this morning by the garage who found that my car was previously damaged and repaired (badly) in same area of the crack.

They obviously wont claim for a new bumper due to it failing on the previous repair, so only likely to get a cash settlement instead, is it worth getting it repaired again or leave it as it is and start looking for a replacement bumper/nose on ebay ?

I'd go for a cash settlement and get a replacement bumper.

Even though a non fault claim your insurance premium will increase.

It will go up anyway as you have reported the claim, whether gone through or not - you are now classed as a bigger risk ... (general bending of statistical data ...)

That's why more and more people try to come to a private arrangement/settlement for minor damage. Trouble is, this can go wrong too if the guilty party decide at a later date that they AREN'T paying the bill for repairs that you present them and even worse, deny all knowledge of any accident in the first place!

You claimed for that? No chance i'd go to the bother of getting insurance involved for something so minor.

As said, they'll now most likely increase your premium. They're proper con artists.

Best off getting a smart repair done for 50-100 quid.

Bit late for that, the attitude of the other driver really pissed me off plus I'd spent most of the day before cleaning the car which didn't help.
