Background... 2012 2.0 m-sport. Weekend toy, 10k miles 30 months old. Special birthday pressie was intending to keep until I can't get out of it any more!, on pcp til December.

Went in for rattle roof and abnormally worn seat bolster 11 days ago

Car returned to me 7 days ago with scratches, oily finger marks on seat and trim and (worse bit) replaced seat back cover that now doesn't fit. Refused to accept the car back and given 2014 demonstrator as loan car.

Today it looks like they are incapable of fitting the seat cover properly and have done the 'best they can' As the repair was a gesture of goodwill they don't have to return the car to as new (boll@&£s was my response to that one)

Three options seem to be in front of me. Accept the car back and give it them back in December and go back to owning a porsche

Stick out for a new complete seat

Try a deal with a new replacement car on a new pcp. (Current loaner in non m-sport and to be frank I prefer the ride)

Any suggestions short of violence welcome

Ah, BMW owners and their first world problems

First, the scratches - serious or can they be polished out?

Secondly, oily finger marks - serious or can they be cleaned off?

Thirdly, seat back cover - would a professional trimmer be able to fit the new cover properly?

Poor dealers are, well, poor dealers and if the answer to the all the above is yes then why not just get the thing fixed elsewhere. Yes, it's irritating and, yes, the dealer should be able to sort these things but it seems that for a small layout - certainly less than the cost of changing cars - these problems can be sorted out. As I said, poor dealer is poor dealer and life is too short to let these sort of problems spoil things.

Piss poor service that mate
If its still on PCP would Bmw finance not give your dealer a kick up the arse for leaving "their car" in that state

Good call. Think I'll give that a try tomorrow.

If the scratches are bad and you hand the car back intending to walk away BMW could charge you for the repairs, depends if classed as normal wear and tear.

Luckily I have a fantastic dealer and car is always returned spotless however any unknown garage I would take a few time/dated pics of the car once left at the dealer.

Tim.

My first visit to a BMW dealership, after half an hour they returned car with greasy hand marks all over the beige leather door panel and arm rest.
BMW trying to be classy but failing.

Once told;

Bentley; share holders car
Merc; chairmans car
Bmw; managers car
Ford; a reps car.

And the dealers treat you appropriately.

Pretty sure the scratches and oily marks will come out. But the seat looks dreadful, saggy cover, wrinkled edges and inappropriate creases everywhere

Mate I have had my seat refitted with new leather and first time out it doesn't fit normally, give it a week and it will settle believe me....

First world drama apparently resolved

Seat finally fits ok, scratches polished out (still needs a bit of work to get rid of polish marks though) and car given full clean and valet

Took nearly 2 weeks and some strong arm tactics to get them to sort it. Still not certain I'll keep it anymore but the current nice weather may help to rekindle my affections

Cheers
