Covers

Do any/many of you use a car cover? If you do which would you recommend? I'm fed up cleaning the car etc and within a couple of days it's covered in dust without being used. I know it's black but thought a cover would help

I'm off using covers after the one I used on my MX5 caused the paint to blister.

Luckily the blisters vanished after I removed the cover, but it was looking like an expensive paint job for a while.
Actually quite common when you look in to it.

I do for a couple of reasons - if I know heavy rain is coming but make sure car is washed before covering, mainly because I had a boxster before and that leaked causing an expensive problem!! - I had a full respray about 18 months ago and want to keep it as good as I can - not noticed any problems with rub marks as yet. The other reason I recently found some bird #### on the bonnet edge - only been on a couple of days and it scorched the paintwork.

I use a Stormforce cover in winter when not using the car for extended periods. Does a stellar job.
I use a 15 quid Lidl 'medium' size cover in summer to keep dust and UVA/B at bay. Does a stellar job, although the fabric is beginning to thin out a bit after 3 years of use during the summer months.
I started using a cover in summer after experiencing the the laquer on my bootlid worsening due to UVA. The plastic on the satnav screen also split due I suspect to UVA blasting down on it on hot days. UVA is more damaging than any micro scratches you may incur as part of using a car cover.

Any minute scratching that might occur can be polished out easily with a D/A.

Bootlid before/after a quick polish with a D/A... left half post polish, right half pre-polish (with a quick sample polish section).
