Coupe warranty repairs

Hi

So what are my chances on the getting the following done under warranty........ all happened this week so not a great week for me :-(

1 - mirror glass fell out and smashed

2 - cup holder broke ( snapped )

3 - fog lights both started to mist up heavily

The cars under a dealer provided auc warranty, what, if any are gonna be covered in your experience ladies and gents ??????

Hopefully all of them, but knowing my luck who knows lol

Little to no chance on the first two as they'll be classed as trim, and not covered.

The fogs will depend on how old the car is, and whether it's the result of a stone chip (definitely won't be covered), or a seal problem (may/may not).

if you don't ask, you'll never know :P
 
I've had my BMWAUC for two weeks now and have also noticed that one of the front fogs is misting up.

There are no visable signs of damage, chips etc, so i'm guessing it's a seal issue. I may give BMW a call

rang williams today, pretty unhelpful as usual

- the service guy said he had never seen a wing mirror glass fall off and it wouldnt be covered, couldnt be bothered pursuing this one as there a tenner off ebay, already ordered

- the cupholders classed as trim so not covered, again ive found one on ebay for 33 quid so ill order that over weekend

-and the usual "bring the car in" so we can see the fog lights and we will check if its the seals or the unit thats faulty, but its usually the seals according to williams, so again prob not covered........ this one ill pursue as it seems its the units are not fit for purpose judging by other z4 users experience

Im going to send a email to bmw customer service regarding the fog lights as a few people seem to have had there replaced under warranty, ill post my findings when i receive a reply from them

Dealer agreed to replace my fog lights although apparently didn't claim under the warranty. That was only 2 weeks after purchase though.
 
Cupholders and fogs done under warranty by Sytner Sunngindale.
Cupholders - no quibble
Fogs - needed a little email pingping with mondial - but got there in the end.

no idea on the glass - it should not fall off - so might be something in it..
 
Anything is possible, a lot depends on your relationship with the dealer.

I've even had a set of 108's replaced when the car was 3 1/2 years old.
 
The wing mirror glass has fallen off a number of Z4's on here including my old 3.0 roadster - only the heating wires stopped it smashing on the ground.

If under the 12 months AUC warantee you have MOT protection, if the wing mirror glass would cause you to fail an MOT I believe they haven't got a choice in the matter - it should not fall off, especially on a eleventy million point AUC checked premium sports car.

Vibrations loosen the locking ring and then the sticky pad is all that holds it on.... until one day you close the door and flop.

MOT protection only applies if it actually does fail an MOT, not if it's something that would fail. So if you're a month away from the MOT, then it's not covered, especially if they know it was a pre-existing fault that you knew of.

However, if you're close to your MOT date anyway, then get it done slightly early to take advantage of the AUC cover.

I don't believe that there's any legal requirement to have wing mirrors (or even a rear view mirror) fitted to a car, so this would not be checked as part of an MoT.
 
Took me a constant argument with my dealer who I was purchasing the car from under AUC to get them to change the fogs.

6 conversations and several promises of a specialistic plastics guy later and they were replaced.
 
thanks everyone, looks like theres a fair few that have had the foglights done under a AUC then :-)

Fitted the glass today, ordered yesterday from ebay at 12 quid

It got here 1st thing this morning, and to be honest is pretty much identical to the OEM one and came with a huge sticky pad already attached

Fitted in 2 mins and it looks perfect, gave it a run for half a hour to make sure the sticky pad didn't loose contact when heated and its still stuck fast to the heating pad :D

Bmw wanted £136 for one with the heating pad attached :thumbsdown: , as apparently they dont just sell the glass separately

Ill knock up a email on monday morning to bmw customer services regards fog lights before booking it in and take it from there, had the car detailed today and the fog lights really do look s**t :headbang:
