I purchased my coupe in January, now ever since I bought it I have noticed a few minor niggles;
I am getting missfires every now and then on start up (probably 1 in 3 start ups), I think a wheel bearing may be on its way out, the engine makes the lifter tick (despite me doing 50-60 miles a day in it), and there is a whine/ whirring noise which I hear when in first and second which i do not like, there is also a faint knocking sound on idle near the front of the engine.
My first idea was to get an indpendant to look at the issues and try and claim on the 3 month warranty that came with the car (non BMW), however I bought the BMW mondial warranty in early Feb, so I am reluctant to get any work done by any other garage than BMW to avoid voiding my new Mondial warranty.
So the other week I called into the BMW dealership to see if I could get a technician to listen to the car, however they said it was not posible and that I needed to book the car in for this. Also they could provide me with a courtesy car but I would have to pay diagnostics and for the courtesy car upfront regardless of a claim and that would annoy me especially if they say no fault found.
So I thought I would put up with the issues and make a fuss when the Mondial kicks in (as I beleive they cover diagnostic costs?), the downside is I have a £100 excess so if I make multiple claims I could be out of pocket by quite a bit.
So my plan is to book the car in, in early March at this point I have both warranties in place, so I can make a claim on the original garage warranty to avoid the £100 excess, and use the Mondial warranty for any big items and to cover the diagnostics?
One quesiton i did have was whether anyone here can recommend a decent BMW indpendant in Derby, Stoke or Stafford? I would like a second opinion before I enter the world of BMW dealership prices!
