Coupe values in Glasses Guide

The repairs to my Coupe will soon be underway (just waiting for replacement parts including a new tailgate to be delivered to the body shop). However, I've been sent a copy of the Engineer's report and I'm rather baffled by the valuations he has used which apparently come from Glasses Guide.

56 Coupe SI Sport
Retail £7270
Trade £5630
Mid-book £6450

Guide mileage 79000
Actual mileage 50650
Adjustment in value for low mileage +£1260

So my car's pre accident value is £8530 (repair costs are estimated at 40% by the way).

Good job it's not a write off as I don't seem able to see any similar specced Coupes going for £8530 on either PH or Autotrader even allowing for the difference between asking and selling prices.

Where do Glasses get their values from?

No idea they are all over the place

Parkers is showing £9750 for mine as private good Cond sale which to me appears about right

Condition and miles are key to pricing though ( full SH a given)

what do ypu consider it to be worth?

I paid £10k in April this year and if I look on the main websites similar cars still appear to be around that price, if not slightly more.

In a way it doesn't matter as its not being written off, but I'm curious as to where Glasses get their valuations from. I certainly know that I'd struggle to get a 50,000 mile fully specced SI Sport for what Glasses think it's worth.

I,m out of touch. My coupe is a 2009 with less than 20k on the clock and I value it at around 11k

Have a look on Autotrader or Pistonheads, you may be surprised even allowing for asking/selling price differences.

I've just re-insured my coupe - 2008 model. The insurance valuations for market value when trawling the web were typically £8.5k. Ok, these aren't that scientific as they're not adjusted for mileage etc, but even so, where could you buy one for that? Mental note to self to drive very carefully as I can do without the aggro of arguing write off values!

Might be worth checking CAP values as i know a lot of the trade use them instead of Glasses, some insurers too.

I got a valuation on mine from Glasses, but this was a trade in at VW and I laughed at them and walked away.
For mine which is a 92,000 mile Coupe SI Sport, in good condition with full service history and a freshly painted front end... £6250

I just paid 11.3k for a 57 plate fully loaded coupe with 45k on the clock, FSH etc. I thought it was a fair price given what is currently out there at the minute. Some dealers are looking 13-14k for them. I was happy to pay what I did as I got the exact colour combo I wanted, especially given how rare they are relatively speaking.
