Coupe - trouble shutting door

Hi,
Arrived home tonight and got out of the car with my left hand full (Indian restaurant food and wallet  ). I shut the door with the right hand (nothing wrong with that of course). On shutting it I just heard a 'donk' and the door was not shut. It was dark so I couldn`t see what was going on. I tried this another time and the same thing happened - 'donk'. So I put everything down and opened the door, turned the ignition on and dropped the window before raising it again. When I shut the door again it was fine.
When the problem occured it sounded like the window had hit the frame of the door. Is this common? I assume the window didn`t drop down a little automatically on shutting the door like it usuallly does.

Thanks,
Darren

I have had the same on my roadster, when the window doesnt drop, seems a rare intermittent problem though

I have this problem as well on my coupe. Passenger side is fine just drivers side. I spotted the fix in the link above but i never tried it as i thought it was for the one touch function which is still working fine. I'll give it a try and see what happens. It wasnt bothering me that much so i was just going to leave it till the 1st service and combine with other small rattles etc... Let see what happens

I've just had experience of this, having the 'donk' noise when shutting the driver's door, and when driving you can hear the road/wind noise more than normal like the door isn't shut properly. Did anybody find a way of solving the problem? Did the window reset procedure work?

happens so rarely that never bothered to sort, only seems to do it when I'm at home at putting the car in the garage.

It's happened to me a few times too. Also it has happened on my Mum's 630 convertible. Just the window that hasn't gone down properly.

I've had it happen twice, both times from closing (raising) the window all the way with the door open on my coupe. The simple fix (for me) was to lower the window with the door open, close the door, and then raise the window fully. Normal drop when opened and raise when closed function returned.

Same here. It happened on my Z3, my M3 and also on the 325Ci. I always assumed it to be a "convertible" issue but I see it is on the coupes as well.
The window doesn't drop once in a while. always seems to go away after locking and unlocking the doors.don't know why, just seems like it does. Is it possible that opening the door too quickly doesn't give the window time to react ? My Gf gets this more often than me 'coz she rips at the door.
