Coupe Tramlining?

Hi all, finally picked up my coupe a few days ago. Generally happy with it, my only annoyance so far is tram-lining?

I’ve had a search around and it appears that the OEM run flats contribute to this a lot. Went into my garage and it would appear that my car doesn’t have run flats on. The rear has 2015 Goodyear Asym2 with approx 3mm tread, the fronts are 2016 Goodyear Asym2 with approx 5mm tread, non run flats.

So my question is, do I spend £500 and upgrade to brand new Michelin PS4? Or is the issue likely something else? Worn suspension etc?

For reference the car is an 08 plate, 67k miles and has never failed an MOT, including a test which was completed last week with no advisories.

As you say, could be tyres could be set up, could be worn bushes. If your tyres are getting close anyway then little lost by changing them. Best solution, seldom the cheapest, get your setup checked and put new rubber on at the same time.
 
I had the original Eagle F1's on the previous Z4, Falken FK452 on it too with little tread left on the tyres. Never experienced any tramlining.

On the current Z4 it had Vredsteins that were almost dead. No tramlining.

Would think it's probably a suspension issue unless you're running crazy tyre pressures given that it's a hatchback! :poke:

How are the bushes?
Track rods will no doubt be seized up.
How's the Wishbones and lollipops?

Can they check the alignment of the car then take it from there?
 
Start with the usual suspects , check pressures ( 32/34 front 34/36 rears) & then have wheels balanced .
Alignment next & from there its check the front control arms ( any play should have been spotted at MOT though )
 
Fantastic feedback everyone, thanks a lot. I will post some pics of the car in due course. It’s currently mid way through a detail and de-badge😂 That bloody glue was a bastard to remove, even when soaked in tar and glue remover! Anyway.... I’ll have the things you’ve suggested looked at ASAP.

I’ve found that fitting spacers on the front has made an improvement to tramlinimg. Good alignment is key if course too.
