Coupe to Roadster Journey

So, for those who have followed the project I have just become the proud owner of ‘Jigsaw’.

Absolutely stunning, great spec and if you haven’t heard a powerflow exhaust on the 3.0, it’s perfect. Drove 250 miles on the first day and at 70mph there’s no drone but sings on full chat.

Funnily enough it’s a full circle moment as I sold Stuart his Coupe, so getting picked up at the station in my old car was an odd feeling!

There’s a couple minor bits that I want to sort, but it’s such a brilliant car and due to the mileage and some general scratches/dinks I’m happy to use it how it was intended, but knowing mechanically it’s pretty much as good as it’ll get.

Could I have picked a better weekend to get this type of car? I know Stuart must be secretly furious the weekend I picked it up is probably the hottest it’s been all summer!

It might be a different view come the colder months, but all of three days into ownership I’m pretty confident the roadster trumps the coupe for fun, but they’re certainly nowhere near as pretty…

Nice!

I think roof up the coupe looks so much better than the roadster, roof down, actually the roadster edges it. I love how the rear haunches are accentuated on the roadster, you dont see that with the coupe.

And of course when the sun is out...roadster wins!

So basically, you traded your Coupe in for a Roadster. Smart move

I concur on roady vs coupe.

Roady wins the experience, coupe the looks and it does have quite an edge in the drive. I went from a M coupe to a Boxster then 911 4s vert then back to an M roadster. Miss the coupe but I also don't think its worth the 8-10k premium.

The Red interior sets off the dark body lovely. 8) Of course you need to keep the roof down so that every one else can enjoy the interior view too. :D

Congratulations on picking up a fantastic E85.

I fell in love with the shape of the Coupe and have never wanted any sort of convertible, even though they have their fans - especially on here!

Yeah the interior is stunning, on pictures it’s deceptive how deep the red is, in the sun it’s looks very bright but I love that it’s more oxblood in the flesh. The recolour really makes them stand out too.

Working away this week so probably going to miss a couple days of sun but fingers crossed the weekend treats us to some more vitamin D.

Just out of curiosity, are we team stubby or whippy? And black grilles or chrome? Had this debate a couple times with Stuart 😂

Black grilles definitely.

My aerial is neither stubby nor whippy, just to be different! But a stubby has to be the way to go if you ever plan to put a cover on the car.

I couldn’t have picked a worse summer though could I haha. Smiles per mile it’s definitely above and beyond the coupes, and even on the cold nights having the top down and heating or the seats on eradicates half the issues.

Great car from Stuart though, makes me laugh people shy away from high mileage examples and they’re always the best and I’m not mortified when there’s a stone chip or something on the front.

You can be sure if a car has passed through Stuart’s hands that it will have been properly “fettled”. I speak from experience of the great work he has done on my cars. 👍👍👍
