Ive spent hours lurking on the forums and now its time to start my own project thread. Mine is on the left parked against another which was a totally random spot at caffeine and machine, anyone on here?

One of my front top mounts has a crack in it so this has provoked a bit of a suspension refresh

Here is what is planned first:

Front top mounts - Lemforder
Rear top mounts - Lemforder - bit of a wait on these but i've read that the Meyle hd ones make noise
Dampers- Bilstein B4
Bump stops - Febi Bilstein front + rear
Front strut tower reinforcement plate - BMW
Rear strut tower reinforcement plate -Bimmertune

then a few other jobs that need doing fairly soon:

Oil filter housing and oil cooler gasket - Elring
Expansion tank- ????? unsure Genuine BMW is £96. What brands have people fitted and how long are they lasting? or is it best to go with a genuine BMW part here?

What a fine pair. Unusual and lovely colour on the right there. 8)

Enjoy your project and keep us nosey lot posted.

Been getting on with a few jobs now. first up was to fix an oil leak. oil filter housing and cooler gasket change. The old ones were brittle and well past their best. no more oil leaks now!

cleaned up the mess from the leak

new fresh gaskets

Also changed the coolant reservoir tank with a genuine BMW one for a bit of preventative maintenance.

I noticed one of my exhaust hangers had failed so swapped that out.

I ordered some Eibach pro springs, but annoyingly only 3 springs turned up :tumbleweed: so I'm waiting on the rouge spring to turn up so i can crack on with my suspension refresh. This has definitely turned into a "while your there, you may as well fix that too" type situation. Waiting on a few other parts so I should be able to do a bit more on Friday all being well.

Hi coupe159, where did you get your rear Febi bump stops? Got the front ones but struggling to find the rears.

I have the oil cooler and filter housing gaskets in the garage, but since mine aren't leaking, I left them bagged up and unfitted. I was going to do them as preventative changes and 'may do' them this winter coming as sure I wont be doing big mileages this year . Was it pretty straight forward to do ? Watching videos on it seemed to show some awkward bits but you never know how they edited videos etc.

Be sure to get a 3/8 joint and the E5 (I think) 3/8 socket. I ended up almost stripping one of the bolts with the ball on the end, so be prepared to get some new ones. A ratchet spanner worked better on those.

While you're there you might as well do the tensioner and belt. Consider the alternator too.
