Coupe Retrofit cruise control not working

Hi all, Hoping someone on here can help me get to the bottom of this  :headbang:

My z is a 3.0 coupe Auto with paddle shift, built in August 2006. I fitted the wiring loom and stalk following the instructions on the following thread http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=19242

The last step i did was to insert the blue look wire into pin 39 of the grey 42-pin plug as many have done rather than pin 4 per the instructions. i mention that because i know that many have pointed out the BMW instructions are incorrect in respect of that.

Having followed each step, for some reason the cruise doesnt work. Ive checked and double checked the wiring but no Joy. Does anyone have any ideas? or is this related to it being an auto? if so should the blue wire go somewhere else?

Hi...I didnt use the black repair cable. Just plugged it straight in and it looked no different to the other pins once fitted. could that be the problem?

It could and may have blown the fuse, so check the fuses and also see if your brake lights are on constantly.

I *think* you need to use the black cable in the loom kit when you go for the correct pin - check the male pin on the block matches with it first though, all the pins on the loom kit are slightly different. One for square male pin, one for flat blade pin, can't remember what's on the default one.

I did have the brake lights on at first and light on the dash. I checked the wiring going into the light switch and rewired it all and that sorted it as well as the light on the dash. Didn't check the lights again after that. I will check the light and try the black repair lead first thing in the morning. Many thanks.

If the fuse has blown that will do it. Still worth checking the pin. They all look very similar and will fit in the block.

Just checked the brake lights and they are working. Will try the fuse in the morning as its too dark here now to do much else.

can i double check with someone, how exactly do you engage cruise control? Just want to double check i'm trying to use engage it correctly

When above 22mph push the level forward like you would for main beams.

I used bummertune kit and it did go in pin 4.

 turns out the problem was the dumbass writing this post you are now reading and not the car.

I thought that the push button on the tip of the stalk was used to engage cruise control while driving and pushing the stalk forward or back was used exclusively to adjust the speed once cruise control was already engaged.

Thanks to the advice from Buckz above, I tried again this morning and am happy to say it all worked a treat :driving: . Thanks also to scooba_Steve for your input :)

Hah, good stuff! It's also in the owners manual if you want to understand what each button does.
