Coupe Reflections (& Me)

Like everyone else I have a fair amount of time on my hands when not being delegated jobs by SWMBO :roll: .
The plan therefore is to work my way around both Zeds with the DA polisher. So yesterday I spent a few hours working on the Alpina's drivers door and rear wing, I'm quite pleased with the results so I thought that I would share them.
I used Meguiars micro fibre pads and micro fibre correction compound followed by Blackfire's gloss enhancing polish, sealant and wax.
I have already done the passenger side door, rear wing boot lid and passenger side, side skirt over a couple of days or so. The rest will be done in between more decorating, loft clearing and gardening :headbang:

Thanks Angelus666 and Kinger.
The swirls weren't overly bad as I had tried last year but using Scholl concepts S20 black compound and their foam spider pads. I was reasonably pleased with the results but after reading a previous post about the microfibre pads being the better way to go I thought that I would try that. They are much better. :thumbsup:
I guess I have got rid of about 90% of the remaining swirls, but being relatively inexperienced at this, I'm not sure of a few things eg. how long you should be working on a panel, what are the ideal speeds and what other compounds etc are there which are more suitable for BMW's paint.
I am though pleased with the results and hopefully will gain experience and improve things further.

Yep, the microfibre pads are a much better technology for BMW paint. Did you use the 3in version for the contours of the door and wings? They make life so much easier and are much better to control. Ref the time spent, as a base guide I'd suggest working a 30cm square area for 2 to 3 mins, then check your work with a decent led light, check the level of correction achieved and then go again, but adjust according to what you have left. Probably 3 to 4 passes will get you where you need to be more often than not.

The more I look at Alpina's the more I like them :thumbsup:

Thanks for the advice :thumbsup:. Yes I have now started using the 3in version, much easier to control and as you say, they are easier to follow contours and do a more effective job. Regarding the time spent, I think that I'm not too far away from your suggestion but it all comes down to gaining experience and confidence.
