Just looking for some advice, as BMW stopped selling them last year or year before I’m looking at getting one from either Tekarbon or mstyle. Let me know what you guys would do. Cheers again in advance.

Tekarbon

Mstyle

I think the tekarbon version has generally good reviews for it's fit and finish - any idea where Mstyle are sourcing theirs from? Thought you were in for the zpost spoiler? Was looking forward to seeing that in the flesh!

My opinion of MStyle is that they are overpriced for the same products you can buy elsewhere. For example they sell my front spoiler for £329 which I bought for £254 here http://www.mstyle.co.uk/bmw-z-serie...ccessories/z4m-mstyle-evo-front-splitter.html and here https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/product/1946128-new?product=FRLSTE8586EDCAR.

If you are looking at price, another option can be found here:

Carbon
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REAL-CAR...534006?hash=item4b0a5ed3f6:g:Py8AAOSwNRdYBERT

Painted
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PAINTED-...248565?hash=item33c12c75f5:g:kGAAAOSwNRdYBEhc

Unpainted
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNPAINTE...542312?hash=item4b0a5ef468:g:kGAAAOSwNRdYBEhc

I have heard reports of Tekarbon items being ill fitting though mainly from the biking community who they cater for on the whole. I suppose it's less likely to get a spoiler wrong than more complicated bike parts. However another note on Tekarbon, they sell carbon covered mirrors at $300 plus $70 shipping. I just paid €100 and €25 delivery for the same thing from AGT Styling who made the carbon sideskirt extensions for our recent group buy with no less quality.

Nah they went with a viper style and not the M4 style I had voted for and not like the spoiler in the CAD that I had posted in that thread. Also the finished product as quite round and not to my taste. Mmmm five I believe is getting one.

Yes, I'm waiting for the Syker one that was a GB on Zpost. I'm #20 on the list, so am in the 2nd batch.

I've had a £100 ebay carbon one before, but the lacquer became milky and cracked after about a year. I'm hoping the Syker one last longer as it's about £500 all in once delivered.

Don't think it will look as good on my Ruby Black as it does on some other colours, but it will still look good...

I have the Skyer roadster one, bought it off Beedub so that will probably be me. However see Beedub's comments about it here: http://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=99390&start=30 which are pretty favourable.

Fit and quality is excellent, and you wont have any problems with lacquer etc. I just don't really like the style of the Coupe one.

I can't comment on the ebay one as I've never seen it in the flesh. All I'm saying is don't expect magic things from somewhere like MStyle just because they have an online store and a brand. If that's the one you go for, you will find that exact one somewhere on the web at a lower price the same way I did. All they do is buy it in and add a premium.

I've got a Chinese one on mine at the moment. The fit wasn't fantastic, but with a bit of sanding etc, it was acceptable. I don't think it's a long term keeper, but it was cheap and a bit of an impulse purchase off the forum - I like the overall look, so would consider a more expensive, better fitting version.

I think he said this when he had it on his car, when it is now off his car, he is saying this. ( second post on linked thread)

“I absolutely LOVED mine but unfortunately i had to remove it, the fitment was just too off for me to leave this one on my pride and joy. Once i stuck it down i though YESSS looks amazing, but over time, i realised i was kidding myself this piece never fitted correctly, not even close the silicone edge i added hid the issues, excellent quality but fitment was actually one of the worst pieces I've ever brought for a car.

On removing the spoiler , id covered the bottom in 3m sticky tape, and to my shock the spoiler was being held on by 2 tiny contact points, literally 95% of the tape applied to the bottom on the spoiler wasn't in contact with the trunk lid, this confirmed id made the right choice, without a bead of silicone on the edge you can see clear through it to the backside, no way is that good enough for me or a car I've spent thousands on, and owned from new.

Total waste of money in the end , hope this doesnt happen with the coupe spoiler as i winced when i saw that GB going up and really wanted to reach out to people I've known for so long but also didn't want to disrespect the very solid OP , i lost ALOT of money on this piece, lesson learned. You asked for comments so i just wanted to be real and give my honest feedback for the community. You are however a very solid seller, stand up guy and i value what you bring to the z4 world..”

Anyway think if I do go with one it’ll be the Tekarbon one
Thanks for all the input guys. Always a great help when I can’t make up my mind!

I went with a different option and took a gamble on an unknown brand on ebay.

Results are marmite but overall fitment is good.

I like that but doesn’t carry on right to the panel gap where the boot closes to the top of the quarter panel. Plus at $300 plus delivery and painting is quite costly.

Anyway I’ve bought the Tekarbon one while the pound is 0.75 to the Dollar so it’s come out at £173 all in so happy with that. Obviously there’s a little import tax but that would apply to the one above as well. If I was going full modded I’d definitely go for the ducktail

Sounds good - make sure you post some pics of it fitted.

Must admit, I never saw the point of them, but I'd plead guilty to having been a roadster fan at the time. :D

Some of them did come from the factory with this spoiler. The OEM version is fixed with betalink adhesive. It's completely flush and you'd probably rip the tailgate off before it broke free (whether that's a good thing or not is subjective!). I get the impression that lots of them go missing from the newer M cars (if taped), but that hopefully won't be an issue for our "future classics".

I had one on my previous coupe, and will be fitting one to my current coupe. As Mr PT says the oem one was a factory option and suits it well imo, I got one from California from a shop on ebay called cuztom tuning (no sniggering) which was great quality and fitted ok, but might try the Tekarbon one this time.
