Coupe profiled in the media

Some good points on rarity, value and looks, but also some tosh particularly in the Coupe Vs Roadster dept that ignores the fact that the e85 is very stiff by rag-top standards, roof motors aren't such a big deal anymore (now we have some enterprising forum roof indie's), and some people, well, just want a roadster 8)

But the article bangs a positive drum for those of the Coupe persuasion

A really interesting read, thanks for posting it.

Birds would tell you to get an LSD as it's one of their main selling items. I happen to agree though and got a Quaife from them. :driving:

The ride is worse when lowered but the handling isn't.

Sports button on the steering wheel is the best one ;) a lot of crap in that article I think.

I'm probably the only one who thinks that carthrottle article is a piece of ignorant nonsense.
It has nothing to do with wether the coupe is a good car or not, but all to do with their stupid advice/pointers.

...not to mention the huge contradiction written down in 2 following sentences.....

Interesting article OP - thanks for that.

As for stiffness, from what I was able to find before buying one the E86 is supposed to be significantly stiffer than the E85.

And yes, Birds would always want every owner to buy a Quaife from them! But on public roads I've never felt the need for one!

Weak points mentions the Vanos but not the electric water pump, which is way more expensive to fix in my experience!

But other than the stiffness thing, all facelift E85s and E86s suffer from the other issues - and has been said the E85 roof motor isn't a problem once it has been relocated.

Off to look for my Sport button on the steering wheel in the morning.

Lazy arse Jounalism, most of it had me cringing! They could have done much more in depth research by simply coming on here and finding out the experiences of folks who live with these cars every day. Instead they approach the first Specialist they can find who's agenda is to flog their parts and services.
