Coupe Pond !

Morning all.

I noticed the passenger side rear carpet in the coupe was a bit wet on Friday and sponged it out. This morning this !

I resealed the door membrane with butyl mastic a couple of years ago having had a leak near the front of the door and it has been dry until now.

I haven't been near it since fixing it before, so does the membrane fail on its own ? I can't see any obvious drips or runs anywhere but it is raining at the moment and has been all night so hard to tell. I'll have another look when it is drier, but any other suggestions as to where else to look in the meantime? Many thanks.

Dry it out. Then get some talc and cover the area around the doors and up towards rear window and quarter glass.
Spray with. Hosepipe then look from where the water is coming in. Will show a mark in the talc. That should show you where to investigate

I tried using the butyl tape and it was rubbish. Didn't hold the membrane in tight at that part about 6 inches back from the front lower corner, where the metal of the door kinks back a bit. Kept springing back away from the metal.
I used Tec7 sealant and everything has been fine since.

Thanks both. I'll get some of the Tec7 sealer although my last repair has been leak free for 2 years or so. The talc is a great idea.

After months of drying it out and other things getting in the way, I have finally got around to trying to sort out the leak. I set up a hose on a ladder to mimic rain and after various adjustments on the door shut and window seals, I still have this coming from one of the door card fixing holes. No water from anywhere else although if I pour water down the window plenty comes out of the drain holes at the bottom of the door.

Any ideas how I stop this one ? I thought of adding some sealer to the door card fixing, but thought that might just divert the water to another hole. I have another membrane if necessary but this one seems to be in good condition and is well sealed all round and I don't want to remove it unless I have to.
