how does the Z4M stack up against the TVR?
pretty well overall!
Surprisingly the shorter Tamora has a bigger boot and more interior storage space, definitely the better prospect for camping at Le Mans.
But then you have the fiddly roof system, where you have to stick the hard panel in the boot, so convenience of the Z4 roof is a big thumbs up.
Interior of the Tam is much more stylish and unique, but the BMW interior works better overall, as you'd expect - better seats, stereo, heating, lights etc.
The Tamora is much rarer, maybe only 300 of them ever made, and I'm still not 100% convinced by the Z4 flame styling.
Performance - the TVR feels a bit more punchy for overtaking, but there really isn't a lot in it on public roads - I led a few TVR's on one of our favourite runs on Sun (anyone see us on the A272?), and I certainly wasn't embarrassed performance wise.
I was however very embarrassed noise wise

- the TVR guys couldn't hear when I was dropping a cog, whereas with them it's very clear when they've done that
Engine wise, I think both cars have great, characterful straight 6 engines, but sadly the TVR Speed Six is notoriously fragile, and in the end, I was getting paranoid about every sound or smell emanating from the engine bay. I'm hoping BMW ownership will prove less stressful.
