Well, after 6 months of ownership and 5 months of paying the insured warranty (Modial), I had enough of a few niggly noises.
I took my coupe into Knights BMW Stoke n Trent and told them the following;
1.) Severe road noise between 40 and 60 mph
2.) Engine whirring sound/ bearing noise when driving in 1st and 2nd gear at slow speeds.
3.) Gearbox/ clutch rattle at idle in neutral - I beleive this is common and reportedly normal and no issue, however I thought I would see what they said.
After they did their road test (which i was not invited to attend), they confirmed the following;
1.) Road noise is due to tyres which are heavily unevenly worn - I guessed as much as my MOT picked this up. Gives me an excuse to ditch the run flats anyway.
2.) Enginer whirring sound - They beleive this is the alternator but it needs booking in for diagnosing.
3.) No comments (and i forgot to ask before leaving).
4.) They reported that the steering control arms were due replacement.
Now, I have the fully comprehsive Modial insurance warranty, so I feel I should be ok with the alternator, though my fear is that after spending a fortune on dealer diagnoses they say no fault found.
Regarding the control arms, they have quoted £135 for labour and £113.31 for parts (part number B31.12.6.783.376 I beleive?). Does anyone think it is worth trying to get these on the warranty? or will they simply play the wear and tear card despite the car only being 5 years old and 49K miles?
Assuming i do replace the control arms, is this an easy DIY job? anyone got any ball park costs from indy's?
Might try and email Mondial about the misted fog lights too, as I beleive some people have had success on here by claiming it was caused by corrosion and not seal failure?
