Well I've heard it said before (although once by a dealer who had 3 for sale)

But now the Daily Telegraph seems to think so:- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/picturegalleries/10330765/Ten-future-classic-cars-part-two.html?frame=2682672

Hopefully articles like this will help people come to that conclusion.

Its got a chance of being a classic, well any car has if it survives

Ford puma.. Audi A2.... Honda inshite.... Who wrote that list... Future classics by age maybe.. like owning a Mk4 escort 1.6 L... Yes it's a classic... But really is it worth saving.

Only the skoda and A2 are the ones I disagree with from that.

Puma is great fun and insight is awesome too.

Scouring through PistonHeads for my next car and I can't believe how many adverts start with "Appreciating Classic".

Yes, the Coupe will be a highly desirable classic. The roadsters will be aswell, but will take a bit longer to be generally viewed that way as they are still too common.

So you're on the prowl at last Dan - another ///M roady ?

I think all the E85/E86 models are borderline modern classics already

I'm working on the theory that mine will be worn out through enjoying driving it :driving: :D , long before either Coupe or Roadie become classics. So that should help out those that seldom get to enjoy driving there Zeds, to make a few grand. :P

Audi A2 was a very advanced car much ahead of its time.
It was probably the first mini mpv (spawning a whole new niche of cars...) and was one of the first ultra fuel efficient cars (look at where we are now and how important that has become....).
And all aluminium. (which made it expensive....and thus relatively rare, especially the 3L: 6450).

Definately a future classic.

Maybe in time for Andy to make his next move :D

What makes a real classic is not innovation , looks or performance ..It is an esccence thats hard to distill . The Ford Capri .. nothing much actually special to drive , they were okay , but the Manta GTE was better . I owned both I know em well . The capri got the real status though and why ? Ford Probe came in to take over where the capri left over .. ever hear anyone talk about those ? They were faster , comfier , quieter and better to drive although a bit crashy by their contempary standard ... but they are a forgotten car . The Puma I suspect will be the same , future classic will be the fiesta ST , Thats got a ford classic written all over it . VW Scirroco GTII .. what a car, urinated all over my friends same age golf GTI .. All in a nicer car .. But which one is the one everyone wants now , which one litters car meets both modded out and in concours condition ... The Golf .

Future classic or not,I am just a very happy chappie to enjoy all this great motoring in a car that holds its value. All the washing, polishing and maintenance that I would otherwise waste on a lesser motor is now a pleasure. If she appreciates over time, what a bonus! :D

I sort of see what you mean there - I never had a Manta but did have a Cavalier Sportshatch as a stopgap for a while which was the same thing just without the fuel injection, and it was a good car. Better than my Capris is some respects.

But I never lusted after a Manta because my Capris were 2.8 Injections, and as we all know on here 6 cylinders are what you need. Maybe this partly explains why the Capri is the one people want now, but it seems to be the same with all Fast Fords commanding values way higher than sporty GM products for some reason.

Mind you I did fancy a Monza GSi for a while, but manuals ones were as rare as the proverbial rocking horse do-dah so that never happened!
