Coupe / E86 problems...

Morning All,

so went out to take some photos of the Ice on the cars and found this:

I'm about to carefully chip it away and add some windscreen anti Ice stuff, any other suggestions (Apart from stick it in a garage or get a cover...)

Affectionately known as the birdbath. Some members who leave their cars outside permanently report no problem, but others have identified it as a source of rust inside the boot. Best not to chip the ice out in case you damage the seal.

Plenty more on here, search for “birdbath”.

That's one of the coupe design (flaw?) that I hate. Water always pool up after a wash or rain, now I see that it can also freezes up there too :x

Yes, it's a right PITA - but it's probably the only thing I don't like so I'll live with it!

No rust to report on mine which has kept outside, just make sure you've applied decent protection product over the whole area.

Ignore the bitter roadster owners, Coupe owners always attract more birds.

What would you say was a decent protection- we taking wax or something a bit more fancy?

This was talked about only recently. I think someone tried a spray-on wax type treatment. I suggested masking the local area and using something like plasti-dip, which can be peeled off and renewed. They even make a clear one.

Sound- will look for itm

I treated my rubbers with Gtechnics C4 a couple of months back. Was a pain getting it spotless 1st but I guess the C4 would just make it look better.

Yep, nothing fancy just a regular application of a decent product and a regular drive to blow all the water away will help keep it protected.
