Hi guys,

Second problem of the evening ;-) The driver side window on my coupe rattles when up. It doesnt appear to do so when it is down and has only recently developed. It is very iritating. Any ideas as what may be causing it? Car is still under warranty so will probably take it in. Just hoping to be armed with what they should look at!

Cheers

I think I have a similar problem, but I think it's the rubber weatherstripping rubbing on the window when driving over some rough road.

Usually it goes away for a little while after I put some rubber care fluid on the weatherstripping - makes the rubber a little more sticky and it doesn't move on the window as much.

Not sure if that's what you are talking about though. I hate the rattles myself, too. I was up til 1am last night trying to fix some.

FWIW, I just had both the rubber seals around my driver and passenger side replaced. With less than 2 years and 8K on the odometer, they had already started to degrade (visibly getting worse, too). I didn't have any "rattles" per say, but they were a bit shaky and you could hear some rubbing. Now the new driver's side is especially snug... it even takes a little more effort to close the door.

Thanks for the replies. The seals look in good condition and the car is similar ages/mileage to your rollingstone. I will try to rubbercare fluid as you suggest scotty and see how I get on. Will just have to wait till the weather calms down a little!

I have used gummi-pflege so far, and like I said, it seems to make the rubber more sticky. It doesn't last long though, so you'd probably have to make it a once or twice a month habit if this solves your window rattle problem.
