Coupe Dilema. What Would You Do?(Update)

I'm currently running three cars Tim. My Daily F11, The Alpina and a cheap 2.5SE Roadster. All on an Admiral Multicar Policy, so the latter is only costing me £170 a year. (i.e c£15 a month)

I'm just using the 129k Roadster as a run about for a couple of months and keeping the miles of the other two. I've saved 2000 miles on the F11 since early July and can also join in the local Zed fun on the weekends without worrying about the Alpina miles rising.

If buying the Coupe gives you another dimension, keeps the Alpina tip-top and gives you some enjoyment too, then go for it. If you sell the Coupe a few months later and make sure its well presented any loss will be minimal and will be offset against what wear & tear you've saved on the more valuable cars.

If you buy a Z4MC you've got a viable upgrade to the Alpina (in my opinion). If you run them both initially till you decide how you feel. If you don't get on then cut your losses, minimal depreciation and you'll maybe got the 'coupe' out the system.

Otherwise you could sell the Alpina if you find you get on with the Coupe? I don't think you'd be able to enjoy two weekend cars so much... best of luck!!

We don't want to sell the Alpina and not fussed about having an M. After having a coupe before though we did enjoy it and liked it enough to perhaps want another in tandem with the Alpina and three series. But I do think that you have put your finger on the problem of enjoying what are mainly two weekend cars. Anyway I think a decision will be made soon so we can move on from this one way or another. Thanks.

Well after deliberating for a month or so we finally decided to purchase a coupe which we brought home yesterday.
Its a coupe si sport 56 plate with 69000miles on the clock and three previous owners. It seems to have been well looked after throughout its time with a full service history and supported by lots of receipts etc.
It must be said that Mrs. Merbrook will no longer be allowed to come to any events breakfast meets etc as this was her idea after seeing various coupes at this years Zedfest. This bloody forum is expensive!

Your quite right Fixit, there is no rush. But we did go to see one on Sunday afternoon which seems to be very good and would be happy to buy, but it doesn't address the main dilemma as to wether it is a good idea etc etc.

There's no pockets in shrouds .. enjoy it while you can .. if it doesn't work out you can always sell the wife

Thanks Simon, had a look at bradz ad and spoke to him about it. It sounded like a well looked after and cherished car but wasn't to the spec we wanted.
