Coupe Console Buttons

Specifically the coupe (although it probably applies to most Z4s), what's the significance of having the 'Passenger Airbag' button opposite the 'Sport' button infront of the gearstick? Photos to illustrate below;

Surely the passenger always has an airbag, plus a way to disable it? Is it a set of factory options that mean it's relocated elsewhere?

Mine has the airbag button but its different to the one in the first pic. According to the original spec it has isofix too so it might be for driving the kiddies around in the passenger seat?

Photos will be the wrong way around for most as they are LHD cars shown.

I thought the ability to disable the passenger airbag (for baby seats) was standard, so where is that button moved to on some cars (and why)?

I think you'll find that it's not a button but the indicator that the passenger airbag has been disabled. The button, operated by the key, is on the end of the dash on the passenger side and accessible only when the door is open.

Photos are definitely wrong as this thread, at the time of me writing this response, has been posted in the e89 section lol..

Ah, my bad! Perhaps a mod can put it into the E85/E86 section?

If it's just a light to show it's been disabled, that makes sense. The only question left is why the difference between cars?
