Coupe advice

i recently sold my roadster which I loved, but I need an auto now. I have really liked the idea of a coupe for a while and found this online. Anyone got anything to say about this one - advice/comments would be very welcome thanks:

Looks great, but one big problem - it's not mine! :lol:

Yours looks great and is very close to me! I really want a low miler though as I intend to keep it a long time. Good luck!
 
Top end price-wise for a Coupe, however low miles and late model. Piano black interior with cream/ivory/white seats and door cards - sort after combination. The 108 alloys are prone to blistering so give them a close inspection.
 
Is there some sort of rust issue with the tailgate - I seem to remember readng about this somewhere?

I know where you're coming from - I paid over the odds for mine cos it was on 34k miles in the right colour and so far its only cost me routine maintenance (apart from all my cosmetic mods :oops: )

Looks a very nice example but £14k for a 42k :? haaahoooooosh :cry: is that really low enough to warrant that ask :? possibly if you viewed & it was like brand new with 1 owner & came with a AUC warranty but its still a 10yr old car & paying top dollar never guarantees a troublefree car .
 
i've just had an email from him and it is 6 owners which seems a lot to me. Service history is basic as well.

Its a £11k -£12k car to my mind , it would have to be meticulously kept & virtually like new to warrant the £14k .
No idea what miles you plan to add but if you plan keeping a long time then i would consider cars with more miles that may have less owners ( though 5 owners in 10 years is not a lot on 2 seater cars ) & with impeccable history which in itself will be hard to find on 10-12yr old cars

It may well be & be perfectly maintained but a 60k car could also be the same & for £2-£4k difference that goes a long way to a maintenance kitty & over a long ownership will you really feel the difference between 40k & 60k ?
Best advice is to view/drive as many as you can to formulate a proper opinion as to what is a fair market price as by now 10-12 yr old cars really can be chalk & cheese as to how they look , drive & feel .

Hi OP. :thumbsup:

If your E85 was a 3.0i you'll find the engine in the Coupe a bit more urgent as it has the 3.0Si.

I can't offer any other info as to how they compare as I've only had E86s!

But as Marlon says, you really want the M-Sport seats that all the Sport Coupes had as standard - although I have seen a few SE's that had them as they were an option.

I hope you find one you like - and has been said that first one is top money (more than I would pay FWIW).

For a car you plan to keep a long time i would drive at least 2-3 to get a feel , depending on any possible previous geometry checks , steering / suspension component replacement & current tyre choice you may find a different feel behind the wheel from the softer more compliant roadster . The coupe can be more prone to feeling twitchy or uneasy at speed & there is no way of hiding this if you drive one that isn't "planted" . I know my first one left me gripping the steering wheel harder & harder as you hit the 60s ,70s 80s & within weeks had changed front control arms & ditched the runflats . Result being a transformed car
Just do some homework & if poss do some driving :driving: :thumbsup:
