It all depends so much on what kind of jouney you have and how you drive, fo me i average 28mpg mixed motorway and tonw use. Purely motoway sees 36mpg if being carefull but if going fast more like 31mpg. If you are stuck in town you will probably get 20mpg.
My computer says 31.0mph but has said that for ages now, does it need a 'reset' of somesort? Also is there 2 modes, i. one for longer average MPG and one for shorter? Mine just seems always stay the same or very close.
In real world I get 100 miles from £18-20 usually, driving gently. The computer probably over estimates by 2-3mpg I'd imagine, my dad says his 330D does as he sometimes compares computer vs his own calculations.
IMO the Z4 is pretty good on fuel given its a sporty, reasonably fast car. Its slightly better on fuel for sure than my old Fiat Coupe 20vt.

filled it to the brim after and it took 52 lites (so 3l were left.. yet i covered over 50 nervous miles after the fuel light came on!) Again, great feedback chaps! Much appreciated. What a nice lot you are!

I know this question is probably just as general as MPG but what's people's view on insurance costs? Obviously it depends on so many factors so I guess my question is more on how it compares and contrasts to similar cars.

Insurance = coupe is better than roadster, my mate of same age, same NCB etc who lives 50 metres down the road in the same estate was £100+ cheaper (500 vs 600) than me.
I'm paying £565, 11 years NCB, 7k a year, parked in car park, 29 years old, guarenteed NCB. I think that is alot but it was the cheapest I could get. My old 20vt was just as quick and I was paying £380 2 years ago for that.

Average for me based on c.2,000 miles covering a wide range of town, motorway and occasional spirited burst is just over 32 mpg.
Just tallied it all up again over another similar distance and got 32.1mpg.
Best within that was 42 mpg, based on a 400mile virtually all motorway trip and taking it at a pretty steady 70mph whilst on the M-way, so don't think I'll realistically get better than that. Even with constant town driving and rush hour, I've never gone below 26mpg based on a tankful, so just under 300 miles or so.
Good to see that the trip computer reading is actually spot on, when compared to me occasionally calculating based on litres used per fill ups and miles covered...my previous 2.5Si roadster was always a little optimistic, but close enough!

I tend to average around 22mpg (I do have a heavy foot...) Work is local so I generally do town driving and get around 200-250 miles out of a tank. But when I do runs to London I get over 400 miles out of a tank, averaging around 38 mpg.
The highest i've ever seen is 46mpg, on a particularly long stretch of 50mph roadworks on the A1 (It was very boring) and the lowest i've ever seen is 9
But that's only happened once...
Personally I think it's great for a 3.0 straight six sports car. It can be an animal but can also be quite subdued when needs be.

I have an app on my phone that works it out, the obc in my car is very accurate, if memory serves it's within 0.3mpg. Had the car nearly 4 months and I'm averagine 31mpg. My best was 34mpg on a motorway run, however this would have been considerably better had I not been sat idling at the Dartford tunnel for the best part of 40 minutes.
Is it correct that there were only 2750 coupes in the UK? Do you happen to know how that is divided between M's and Si's? Any idea how many there are in the world?
