Council Tax Bill

Are you sure it’s 38%? I thought there was a 5% cap on increases?
Rob

Yes it is - last year they gave a Covid-19 Hardship Fund Payment that doesn't feature this year. Because Covid has obviously gone away now.

Wasn't covid just a bad flu year? :fuelfire:

A second home/holiday home in Wales now attracts a100% loading so my £2k bill will be £4K this year.
I’d take your £6 increase with both hands TitanTim

Do you get the feeling you’re not welcome?
I seem to remember holiday homes being burned down a few years ago!

This is to try and stop house prices increasing and stopping locals from being able to afford a house, the burning of holiday homes did happen years ago which has now stopped thankfully.

My issue is that these second homes bring tourists to the area which creates jobs so the council tax hike is self defeating, no tourists so reduced number of job, cant afford a house then.

mine's now £2480 representing a 5.1% rise or £16 a month more

Band E - we live in a village with no streetlights , pavements or bus service - only identifiable service is a weekly waste collection !

Wouldn't mind too much if the money was well spent but not much evidence of that :x

I live where in a rural location, we get 3 street lights and the bins collected for £2600 per year, we cant even get a camera installed to stop the local scumbags fly tipping.

The lane to the house is maintained by the three houses, we get about £500 worth of services a year for our money, you should pay for what you use.

One thing I would like to do once I pack the job in is to move to Wales, either Barmouth or the Mumbles :)

Tim.

Band C. 3.8% Increase. Extra £7 a month. Seems I'm not too badly off compared with some then. The local town council bit has actually dropped by 1.7%. Biggest increase is the Police, up 5.7%. Wouldn't mind if I ever saw them!!!

£10 a month increase for me.

Quite a few years ago it’s was over 19% increase...I think that’s when they bought the cap in.

Get our black bins emptied every 3 weeks and pay extra for green waste.

Weekly food and recycling collection although they are so fussy at what they take anything left goes in the black bin.

Street lights go off overnight so that the council can sneak out and dig some more pot holes!

Pay for what you use...I’d get quite a reduction!

They kept a warm welcome in the hillsides

Tim.

I did think of the Scottish borders a while ago - but the roots here have gone down too deep now.
Apart from that Ive also got way too much stuff to contemplate any move. (apart from when they carry me out in a box)

...and this is another reason I'm relocating in full to NL. The UK is fkd on so many levels these days and Brexit was the last nail in the coffin for me.
House is provisionally sold. UK company deregistered. Most material assets transferred to NL already and I made sure to do that before all the ludicrous export regs came into play.
Can't wait for the day I don't have a single financial/tax obligation there.
Onwards and upwards.

That will teach you Alan, if you had been Welsh, they may have welcomed you :P

Will you go for Dutch citizenship?

Already have my 'verblijfsdocument' which means I have 10 years grace to stay in NL and chip in my UK passport for a Dutch one. However, I'll be doing that as soon as the house is sold and the capital transferred within the next few months hopefully.

Are you dealing with the language ok?
I’ve always found most NL’s seem to speak English but it’s nice to try a little bit !

Mijn Nederlandse taalkennis zit heel goed uit denk ik! Ik vind het niet zo moeilijk een taal te leren.
