Council Tax Bill

Received my Council Tax bill today for the forthcoming financial year for which I was expected it to rise but still slightly surprised for me by £6 a month, doesn't sound alot but multiply that across the country by varying degrees and I guess thats the Pandemic paid for

Extra £10/month here, think it was always on the cards regardless of the pandemic due to care home cost issues.

Thanks Rob, I feel better now, 6 quid is a snip :)

mine's now £2480 representing a 5.1% rise or £16 a month more

Band E - we live in a village with no streetlights , pavements or bus service - only identifiable service is a weekly waste collection !

Wouldn't mind too much if the money was well spent but not much evidence of that :x

£8 a month for me which is 3% (£2550)- However what gets me is the constant bleating about being short of cash - Each year there has been a New capital project ie New Fire Brigade HQ, Police HQ, Council HQ, Bus station - Now if I was to bleat on about being skint and underfunded, I would not be out buying a New Car, New House etc etc! and I wouldn't be shouting about my poverty - I don't think anybody would believe me!

Any increase is bad enough but the biggest scam of all is knowing that 25-20% of every council tax bill funds the pensions of previous council employees , now these could be a street cleaner , town hall receptionist or anyone who has worked for the council in any position , i couldn't care less .
Quite how that can be deemed even remotely ok in the 20th century i have no idea , the sooner each & every one of the UK population is responsible for their own pension from their own earnings the better . Its pure banditry as it stands

Looking at salaries - The chief exec gets a higher salary than the PM !

At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask.

 wow I'll stop me moaning now

Also ontop of the rise having to pay for green waste collection now this year although I think it was always done as a freebie favour by the Council but most have introduced it as a yearly charge now.

Had this discussion with MrsG the other day, when ours arrived. Simple facts are, we will pay for this pandemic just as much through inflation of services, as more obvious taxes. While wages for the masses will stagnate. So in real terms we all end up a little worse off in financial terms.

Take a deep breath for reading this  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1258258/Council-chiefs-picking-250-000-pay-offs-walking-new-jobs.html

I just got mine as well. Band E £2313. Gone up 4.3%. It goes up and we get less for our money.

Most do Ron, I think the average is around 170-210k a year :o

Tim.

Nice work if you can get it !
They are unelected and the elected County Councillors seem to just nod their schemes and plans thro!

Those are absurd amounts, especially as all my Borough Council seem to manage to do is waste money replacing roundabouts with traffic lights and reducing the frequency of emptying the bins.

Mine has gone up by a mere 38% from last year! :headbang:

Hopefully I will be moving some time this year, but I'll probably just get shafted somewhere else.

Are you sure it’s 38%? I thought there was a 5% cap on increases?

It is what is known as a "stealth tax". Norfolk County Council decided to charge dumping diy waste at the local dump aka recycling centre. As an example one can dump carpet but have to pay to dump laminated flooring. The upshot of this we have even more fly tipping across the county. But, and get this, the county council don't care because any clean up comes from the local council budget. So, county council - not my problem. People who live live her a blight on the environment. I go down some local lanes due to essential journey and in every passing point (single track roads) there is cr@p dumped all over it. I feel myself building up to a rant!! :D
