Could someone check this?

Could someone with an 04 Euro Z4 3.0 SE, professional HiFi with DSP (not sure how important the model/year match is, sorry) check and see what's connected to the AMP in the boot for me please? Have a problem with my CD Changer (no sound) and suspect BMW have not connected something (or it's loose) during work being completed in the boot.

I can see only one connector from the AMP (lots of wires on one connector), should there be an optical or Coaxial cable too for the changer?

Going batty trying to work this out and as the car is new to me I don't know what connectors were installed before, all other audio is fine and the changer was working before the vist to the dealer.

I don't have the Carver set up, so mine would be no good. May I suggest you take a piccy of yours so we can check to see if any of ours match up.You ,ay get more responses this method.

I'll try to get a picture up later on today guys...

The rear of the changer is wired with the 3-pin and 6-pin connectors, no coax. Would I be right in saying Z's can be coded for Digital or Analogue? Can't remember where but sure I've read it somewhere unless I have having a DSP moment!

I'm told my car should be Analogue so no need for Coax but still no audio from the changer. BMW think otherwise, they want to fit a Coaxial cable and waiting for the part to arrive from Germany.

Also want to sort out the ipod intergration, probably Dension (no satnav for Intravee) but need to know whats what before ordering anything.

I expected more from BMW to be honest, previous experience with my 3-series was good before I went Independent, more technology I supose but I expect them to know from their systems what spec my car is without any hassle! Nope :?

Had all the carpet out the boot this afternoon, checked all connections at the Changer (3pin & 6pin) , amp (one harness) and head unit (everything connected), it all looks OK to me. It's fun getting the heater vents off but once mastered, no fuss at all. Dunno what's wrong, once to Coax cable arrives BMW will fit but I'll be surprised if it works as it should be Analogue for the year/build of the car, been wrong before though!

Most anoying things about all this is I can't get the iPod in until it's all working. I'll stop pestering y'all now but please PLEASE post if anyone can help further.

Thanks!

Wanted to update this thread as BMW have fixed the problem!

They have fitted a Coaxial cable and removed the 6-pin connector from the rear of the CD changer, this makes the setup "digital" and goes against everything I've heard/read saying that '03 registered/built Z's are all "analogue" and do not require a coaxial cable for audio.

Oh well, happy it's fixed and can now progress the iPod setup knowing the CD changer connections are all working now. They also fixed FOC  , very happy with the service and help from BMW Douglas Park, Hillington, Glasgow (will post in dealer feedback).

Anyone any thoughts/arguments on the fix? I'm still convinced that the DSP amp and/or the car can be coded for one operation or another (analogue/digital) or it's a restriction of the amp fitted.

 Pleased for you Chris! I still have my problem. Can you take a pic of the coaxial connection at the amp please as i don't seem to have a socket for my coaxial? Cheers Al.

I think it is the other way around. The older Z was digital, the newer ones are analogue.

Yeah PVR is right, meant to say '03 onwards, might even be 02 onwards for the Z4. I'm trying to find out then why my '04 needs a coaxial, is it just down to DSP and Carver?

Think analogue was after 04, i.e. when the facelift models came in.
