Could be minor or is it major?

If its a minor i would imagine it would have been fixed.
Its not worth the hassle, everytime you drive the car you will be listening for it.
Ask the owner to get it fixed and then you will consider buying it.., if not walk away from it, there are plenty of cars on the market that are ready to go....
Dont buy someone else's problem ...
Have a Merry Christmas instead of worrying about your noisey gearbox.
The only whine i have in mine must be something to do with the passenger seat....when my wife is in it...it whines non stop... :rofl:

Seems the passenger seat whine is quite common. The only permanent fix is to remove the seat altogether. :D
 
Find out the price of a replacement dsg gearbox from bmw including fitting and subtract that amount from the asking price of the car. Simples :thumbsup:

A replacement dual clutch gearbox from BMW will probably mean the seller having to pay you to take the car away :rofl:

Remanufactured DCT transmission from BMW is £10k without fitting, I have never seen one on eBay but guess it would be £2k+

I have seen the DCTs on ebay for circa £1k consistently
