Q: What products do you sell?
A: Regular Unleaded (typically 87 octane) and Premium Unleaded (typically 91 octane). Octane requirements can vary by state.
For a comparison Shell Regular is 95(?) Octane and Premium is 99 Octane so there's a reason it's cheaper. Their Premium is lower octane than Shell standard which is priced at 128.9 at my local garage, so it's also cheaper

Whenever I am in the US I always take my membership card so as to save what can be as much as 20c on a gallon.
Would have to assume that the octane is the same everywhere in the UK - you'd have thought it would be...
Where are you, I don't think my local Costco (Reading) are planning anything at this time.

Just thought as its a forecourt they may accept anyone else to refuel.
Although with Tesco's promotion at the of getting a penny off fuel for x amount of shopping my tesco refuelling is probably working out the same!

I am guilty of it myself, but I don't know why people get so fired up over forecourt prices. A 'big' difference of 5p per litre, which is rare, is only a couple of quid on a full tank. I fill up once a month, meaning that would save me the grand sum of £24 a year. Hardly worth driving miles to find the best deal for

Agreed, although if you're filling up every week, it makes a difference.
The difference between 'acceptable' prices and profiteering prices is ridiculous however.

UK and US octane ratings are different so it's not a correct like for like comparison. You have to add something like 5 or 6 to the US to equate to the UK. Complex and would need a lot of understanding to truly compare.
Same here on costs. Prices in south east London pretty close to that anyway. Seems to be massive fluctuations around the country. Can be upto 10p difference within a relatively small radius (and I'm not just talking M25 service station prices).

yes its the liverpool store, i go pretty much once a week or so to get dirty pizza and a hotdog! . shell is 130.9 for 95 ron no idea what the price chavda is as i dont like the car pinking on it.
i don't shop enough in Tesco to get that voucher, infact i avoid tesco as much as i can as i find them to be expensive, poor quality, and morally bankrupt. tend to pop in and buy only essentials or what Ive forgotten from accado and booze
